City of Miami Beach

Created by Leandro Erlich and curator Ximena Caminos with Brandi Reddick, Cultural Affairs Manager for the City of Miami Beach, in conjunction with Miami Art Week – Order of Importance was a spectacular installation of 66 sand-coated cars, located on South Beach, symbolizing traffic at a stand-still.

Meticulously executed, the site-specific installation felt like a modern-day Pompeii. The work was poignant, highlighting fossil fuel use and its effects on fresh air, clean water and sea levels. The project is an example of Nonstop engaging thematically with one of the critical issues of our time, sustainability. We were invited to work with an accomplished team, composed of an Argentine artist, an international curator, and savvy municipal leadership--all to help put forth and promote the most visible installation during Art Basel. Nonstop continues to work with the artistic team on new projects, taking the time to cultivate well-matched partners.
