The Shed

Nonstop played a pivotal role in realizing IN FRONT OF ITSELF — a permanent, site-specific text commission by legendary conceptual artist Lawrence Weiner at The Shed’s plaza, Hudson Yards. The 12-foot-tall artwork, embedded in custom paving stones, embodies the building’s dynamic nature: a structure in perpetual motion, always ‘in front of itself.’ Nonstop single-handedly secured a major in-kind donation of Hanover Architectural Products’ bespoke paving stones — a feat that brought this ambitious vision to life with precision, impact, and financial ingenuity.

Our work ensured the artwork stands as an enduring testament to innovation and collaboration — a powerful statement in New York’s most cutting-edge cultural hub. We championed the project’s realization, ensuring every detail, from materials to installation, upheld the integrity of Weiner’s vision while honoring The Shed’s role as a groundbreaking, multidisciplinary art space.
